Robert Kapcia graduated from Mason County Eastern in 1976 and held the county record for the Most Points in a Basketball Career, 1,520, until 1992 when his record was surpassed, but he currently still remains second overall. Derek Shoup is a 1999 graduate of Ludington High School and attended Mason County Eastern from 1996 - 1998. Uniquely, Shoup holds track records at both high schools. Eli Shoup, son of Robert and Amanda Shoup, is the Life Lesson Award honoree from Mason County Eastern and selected St. Mary's Caritas Food Pantry as the recipient of the donation given by the MCSHOF in his honor. Jill (Treml) Stickney, of Custer, played basketball and softball and ran track at Mason County Eastern. In 1979, her senior year, Stickney was a state champion in shot put, setting a new state record that year with a throw of 41′ 7 3/8″ (12.68 meters). The 2001 Mason County Eastern softball team won the 2001 MHSAA Division 4 state championship with a 38-2 record. The team won district and regional championships in the playoffs and the Western Michigan D League. The team had two first-team All-State players. Jerry McCormick's athletic career zoomed to life following his graduation from Mason County Eastern in 1964. McCormick was a three-sport athlete for the Cardinals in track, baseball and basketball.
